Green Matcha Tea

As a teacher, I need some Double Green Matcha Tea sanity in my life by 7:15 am or else someone's getting the evil eye. No joke. Flashback to last Thursday when I was dropped off at work because my tire befriended a nail. The only thing I was looking forward to was my tea. Long story short, left that bad boy in the car, and as you can guess, Thursday was not a good day.

Personally, I don't drink coffee often. It makes me far too jittery to function as a normal human being for 8 hours. I can't make it. Double Green Matcha Tea is 100% organic green tea that supports my need to be nice Ms. Heyward and not savage Ms. Heyward.

what is it?

Matcha is a popular traditional tea used in Japanese tea ceremonies. The tea bags contain a powder since matcha comes from gyokuro, a nutrient-rich green dried tea leaf, which seeps into the bottom of your cup just like during the ceremonies. It has amazing health benefits including boosting energy while leaving you feeling calm, both of which I need with these foolish children. It's fantastic.

Since it's simply green tea, the caffeine level is less than a quarter amount than a cup of coffee, however, for me, the matcha provides a nice boost of energy in the morning.

Steeping only takes around 2-4 minutes paired with boiling hot water.

Matcha also pairs great with fruit for a smoothie:

Double Green Matcha Tea Smoothie Recipe

Serves 1
1/2 cup ice,
1/2 cup almond milk,
1/2 cup orange juice,
1 tsp. matcha green tea,
1 sliced mango

I'm all about healthy eating in the easiest way possible, so Double Green Matcha Tea was the perfect substitution for coffee. Reko and I use the Republic of Tea brand, but there are several places where you can find matcha to boost up your morning routine.
